WHAT'S NEW
2005-Jan-20
- Tweaked both the Point and Shoot curve and the EV3 curve to hold slightly more highlights. Straightened the linear portion of the curves to make shadows through upper midtones indistinguishable in both contrast and color from using the normal tone with EV compensation.
2004-Dec-5
- Discontinued "Provia" curves. After extensive tests, I've concluded that Nikon's "Less" contrast setting with +0.33 EV does the job "Provia" was designed to do better and without a significant risk of clipping highlights.
2004-Nov-28
- Updated the v3 curves to v4 by altering the shoulder end of the curves to make use of additional highlight information.
- Changed the name of the "White Wedding" curve to "Point and Shoot" to more accurately reflect its primary purpose.
CONTENTS
1. Point and Shoot v4.1: This is a good replacement curve for D100 and D70 photographers who constantly find themselves having to use EV compensation to correct for dark images. It is calibrated precisely to add the equivalent of +0.5 EV to images while holding more highlight information than if you were to actually set the camera to +0.5 EV. This curve is recommended for most users as a general use curve.
2. EV3 v4.1: This curve does the exact same as the curve above, however, it is calibrated precisely to add the equivalent of +0.33 EV to images. This curve is recommended for people who find the "Point and Shoot" curve too bright.

3. fotogenetic_autoflow.exe: You can drag and drop any of your
digital images (limit of 30 at a time) onto this droplet if
you own Photoshop 7 and they will be automatically corrected
for brightness. It will not correct white balance errors. I
only use this when I have hundreds of images I want to process
fast and post on the web. The final images will be saved onto
your desktop with the suffix "copy".
4. fotogenetic_quickflow.exe: You can drag and drop any of
your images (limit of 30 at a time) onto this droplet if you
own Photoshop 7 and they will be run through my workflow, with
manual control of all manipulations. This workflow uses AdobeRGB
as the working color space and saves images with the AdobeRGB
profile. The final images will be saved onto your desktop with
the suffix "copy".
5. fotogenetic_save_for_web.exe: You can drag and drop any
of your images (limit of 30 at a time) onto this droplet if
you own Photoshop 7 and they will be automatically color profiled
(sRGB), sized for the web (to fit within a 640 x 640 area),
and sharpened. The final images will be saved onto your desktop
with the suffix "web" added to the original filename.
6. Fotogenetic.atn: This is the actual Photoshop action file
used to make the droplets above. If you have versions of Photoshop
other than version 7, you may be able to load this action and
create your own droplets. Make sure when using these actions
that you specify specific "save as" instructions otherwise
images processed with the actions will be automatically saved
to the desktop as "default.jpg".
7. fotogenetic_s_curve.zip: This .zip file contains several
s-shaped curves for use with Photoshop and Nikon Capture. They
are useful for brightening, darkening, or adding contrast to
an image. The ".acv" files can be loaded in Photoshop
7 under the Image >> Adjustments >> Curves menu.
The ".ncv" files can be loaded in Nikon Capture 3
under the Settings >> Curves >> Load menu.
